Jim Keating opens MK#9 with what's sometimes called the King of Weapons - the spear! Starting with guards and basic actions he outlines a simple yet effective path of instruction with the spear. Next, Rob Simons takes you inside Sikaran for a great training session on this super-rare Filipino martial arts' stick fighting, blade fighting, and powerful kicking techniques that have been proven in full-contact tournaments in Asia. Rob has fought and won in the ring overseas as a heavyweight kick-boxer using Sikaran! Their signature kick? The biakid, or spinning heel hook to the base of the skull!
Finally, Pete Kautz shares a quick start guide to the fighting bandanna. These five conceptual drills will get you up and going fast with flexible weapons, allowing you to add them into whatever art you do. You'll have no doubts about the destructive power of a bandanna after the graphic demonstration of how easily it can shatter a bottle. Plus the use of the coat in counter-knife work is shown using these conceptual drills with the special ways a coat can blind and aid in disarming.
